'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith continues clash with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he recalls the thrilling dying seconds of Swansea's epic comeback win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The game ended with Galbraith picking up a fan's glasses following the on-field celebration.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith struck the post with a speculative shot from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess immediately slammed home the deflection before charging toward the crowd to revel in the moment, with the crowd swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result capped an unbelievable turnaround given Swansea had trailed 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. In the celebrations, there was some collateral damage. The midfielder recalled, "There was a fan trying to get our attention and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result secured a upcoming fixture at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a club Galbraith ran close at the same stage of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had an excellent perspective when the underdogs took the lead in remarkable manner, with the attacker's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that distance," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before moving to right flank after Orient changed tactics. That meant competing with the England international, with whom he traded tops, and the winger was among the Manchester squad who complimented the way Orient played positively.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It seems as if they complete every delivery and they are adept at dictate and neutralize a game. You can think you're all right and then without warning they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It demands a tough attitude and concentration just to keep pace."

New Chapter

Swansea pushed to sign Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to sign him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a popular figure across a couple of years at his former club and has quickly replicated that in south Wales. At his previous team he joined forces once more with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his first extended run in professional games on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a loan at lower division Salford City, before he permanently left his boyhood club.

Development Path

"I was perhaps a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think a lot of players would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems the ball is moved without real physicality. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to learn quickly."

International Recognition

He has demonstrated that growth for his team and nation, performing well for his national side, who remain in contention for the global tournament next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has featured in the last several matches, including two matches games against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he controls possession and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Humble Beginnings

This represents a remarkable path for the kid from the neighborhood in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his father, Stuart, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Old Trafford Memory

The player's only game for Manchester United came in Central Asia in 2019, a European competition trip to the host city, where they competed on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was shut owing to conditions of -15C. "It was a long trip and it was cold out there," he comments, chuckling. "The days leading up, several youth players and I trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to join the main group and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

How difficult was it to leave United, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "The decision proved fairly simple, because I reached the point where I understood I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I believed I needed to go my own route, move to a lower level and play first-team games. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during the middle of the day at the club's training ground but Galbraith has somewhere to be at late afternoon: a road rules assessment, another progress toward getting on the road. Until recently to the local area, the young professional was a constant rider in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a team vehicle driven by team personnel, the drivers, which ferries players to and from training and matches.

"My companions include Gonçalo Franco, the Brazilian, Malick Yalcouyé – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to spend time with the lads but I'm planning to be the following person to stop using the bus and driving. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's always up to all sorts."

Supporter Connections

While playing for his former club, Galbraith would travel alongside supporters on London's Central line after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
